Tilia tomentosa 'Chelsea Sentinel', a columnar variety of the European white lime, mid April. Sometimes known as Chelsea lime because it was discovered as a single seedling specimen in the grounds of The Royal Hospital, Chelsea; the original tree was destroyed by the hurricane in October 1987.
