Apple 'Duke of Devonshire', late September. An English dessert apple bred in 1835 by the hed gardener to the Duke of Devenshire at Holker Hall in Cumbria. Commercially introduced in 1875 and a popular apple in Edwardian times. Still grown in private gardens.
