Pear 'Sierra', early September. A Canadian pear that "originated in Summerland, British Columbia, by Canada Dept. of Agr. Introduced in 1969. 'Bartlett' x 'Marguerite Marillat'. Cross made in 1947... Fruit: large; long, pyriform; skin smooth, thin, very tender, easily develops russeting from bruises or frost; green when picked, yellowish green when ripe; flesh very fine and smooth, very sweet, juicy, excellent quality; ripens with 'Anjou', or third week of September."
