Melianthus major, mid October. Commonly known as Honey bush or Honey flower. "[Christopher Lloyd's] favourite foliage plant, with impressive greyish, blue-green, pinnate foliage, subdivided into several bold obovate leaflets that are deeply serrated like a shark's teeth. These are clasped around grey-green stems, held in complex layers casting intricate shadows. Not completely hardy, it needs a deep nest of fern fronds to protect its roots. Two-year-old shoots will flower in the spring with dramatic spikes of bizarre, nectar-laden, chocolate-coloured, tubular blooms followed by green pods."
