Camellia japonica 'Woodsii'. Originated about 1819 by the Vauxhall nursery of Chandler & Son as a seedling of 'Anemoniflora' (brought from China in 1806). It was named for Mr Woods of Camberwell Grove, south-east London, who was said to be a great admirer of camellias.
