Crataegus orientalis, early August. A form of hawthorn tree native to the Mediterranean region, Turkey, Caucasia, Crimea, and western Iran, whose common names include Silver Thorn Tree, Eastern Thorn, Oriental Flowering Hawthorn Tree and Oriental Thorn. The leaves are quite deeply dissected, with a feathery appearance. Clusters of white flowers in late spring and early summer are followed in the autumn by red fruits with a yellow tinge.
